It was built on the site of an artificial lake in the city center in 72 AD, but was completed only in 80 AD. It was originally known as the Flavian Amphitheater. The Colosseum accommodated up to 55,000 spectators who used to come here to watch a variety of popular games and sports, the most famous among them being the slaughter of wild animals and slaves.
The Pantheon is among the top five attractions to be visited when in Rome. It is a 43-metre high concrete dome built over 1800 years ago for the worship of all the pagan gods. It was built under order from Marcus Agrippa.
